This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a very unromantic day…a Tuesday. So what are restaurants doing to make the most of it? Here are some promotions and ideas to thrive on America’s most romantic holiday.
1. Offer a lovely Prix Fixe.
You know those couples. They’re super lovey-dovey and they HAVE to go out on Valentine’s Day. Attract them with a special Valentine’s Day menu. Mashed potatoes formed into a heart? Sure! It’s Valentine’s Day, so it’ pretty much carte blanche for super cheesy promotions.
2. Make it a WEEK of romance.
Some couples have a long commute and don’t have a ton of time in the evening to celebrate. Those people will probably order a pizza and hang out on the couch on the big day but will save the night out for a Friday or Saturday instead. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to offer them a special night even if it isn’t February 14th.
3. Paint the night red.
Offering a special menu featuring crimson is a great way to spice up the night and attract new and even repeat guests. But don’t just add red food coloring. Pomegranates, strawberries, tomatoes…There are a number of ways to incorporate a little red onto the plate.
4. Feature aphrodisiacs.
There are certain foods that are pretty well known for improving blood flow (wink-wink). You can offer a dollar oyster deal if you’re coastal. Plenty more ideas here.
5. Appeal to the single ladies.
For many, Valentine’s Day is THE WORST. So why not go against the grain and offer some cocktail specials that aren’t pink? Create your own! Celebrate Single Awareness Day!
Whatever tactic you take you, we hope your two tops stay full all week.
