President Trump has signed an executive order drastically increasing funding to apprenticeship programs designed to fill the "skill gap" in the workforce. Trump is directing the U.S Department of Labor to review and streamline roughly 43 workforce programs across 13 agencies many of which will largely impact the food service industry. Multiple aspects of these apprenticeships are still in the early stages of development including the oversight of each program as well as how they will transition into the workforce.
Apprenticeships have been found to reduce turnover, increase productivity, enhance job satisfaction, and improve operations.
