Cycle Managers Between Tasks Quarterly [Hack #073]

Variety is the spice of life… and work

Thirteen weeks of any activity creates a routine. While routine does create efficiency, it also encourages complacency. Rotate the roles your assistants (and you, too, for that matter) manage in the administration of your restaurant. Tasks like scheduling, inventory and training can be cycled through to ensure your entire team remains fresh and is cross trained on all responsibilities of the management team.

With the cross-training you can ensure they support each other and function more efficiently as a team. It also means that covering vacations won’t cause friction on the workload and gives your managers the flexibility that will keep them around for a long time.
